Glenfarclas 15 YO

Glenfarclas 15 YO

I really like Glenfarclas. I love the balanced sweetness that the 12 YO I tried before so elegantly provided. It was a perfect dram if you wanted something not too complex, but still well thought-out and thoroughly executed. I was therefore excited to buy a bottle of the 15 YO and see what that had to offer. Nose: This is a very sweet whisky indeed. Caramel sweetness together with a very prominent sherry finish; grapes, oak, and … Read entire article »

Read entire article »

Seafood & Ale? Cropton delivers.

Seafood & Ale? Cropton delivers.

A real ale has always been the given companion for a paperful of Fish’n'Chips, but what about a nice Tagliatelle alle Vongole or a nice seafood soup? Apart from the blokes down in Belgium who will gladly drink a heavier Belgian brew together with their Moules, white wine is usually the drink of choice when it comes to salty sea stuff. But is there any other drink that could marry with the fresh saltiness of … Read entire article »

Christopher Hitchens at his best

I always loved the Hitch. His wit, rhetorical skill and sense of human compassion is remarkable. In this video, he makes his strongest and most popular arguments and successfully convices one that christianity indeed is “the most perverted system that ever shone on man”, as Jefferson said. See it if you haven’t already. … Read entire article »

Äntligen lite vett i svensk politik!

… Read entire article »

Joya de Nicaragua – Torpedos

Joya de Nicaragua – Torpedos

I’ve always been a fan of Nicaraguan cigars, and of Joya de Nicaragua especially. The damp, dark leaves leave a sweet, earthy and not-too-heavy aroma that goes well with practically everything. I love them all year around, though I think they go especially well with a walk in the forest on a day in the autumn when the ground is wet, the clouds grey and the take-away coffee is black. Now in these hot summer days, … Read entire article »

On the definition of life

About two weeks ago, an old friend of mine announced a competition for 100 SEK (about 10€) for the best answer to the question “What is life?”. Since I have a few thoughts to give on the matter and always could use some extra cash, I thought I’d give it a go. Part one: The problem of defining life The main problem with defining life is that not only do you have to find a common denominator for all life that we find on our own planet (which would be a very specific one), but one must also account for other possible forms of life on other planets or, indeed, in other universes (which would be a very general one) while still making some kind of intuitive sense.  Thus, the endeavour of … Read entire article »
