Människan har alltid undrat hur man gör rätt och fel moraliskt när valet inte är helt uppenbart, om det finns några moraliska sanningar och varför vi överhuvudtaget bör ha moral till att börja med.
Det sistnämnda är kanske bäst illustrerat hos religiösa människor som börjar tvivla på sin religion. Mycket snart hör vi ofta utsagan ”men om det inte finns en gud, en laggivare över alla andra, hur ska vi då skilja rätt från fel? Allt sådant blir ju bara upp till mänskligt godtycke!”
Till viss del stämmer det här. Moraliska regler är mycket lättare att försvara om man har ett mytos eller en dogm bakom sig. Men om vi utgår ifrån att logos är att föredra framför mytos så betyder det alltså att vi behöver ett nytt, rationellt ramverk för att … Read entire article »

I always loved the Hitch. His wit, rhetorical skill and sense of human compassion is remarkable. In this video, he makes his strongest and most popular arguments and successfully convices one that christianity indeed is “the most perverted system that ever shone on man”, as Jefferson said. About two weeks ago, an old friend of mine announced a competition for 100 SEK (about 10€) for the best answer to the question “What is life?”. Since I have a few thoughts to give on the matter and always could use some extra cash, I thought I’d give it a go.
